Fireflies

That night there was lightning against a red sky and fireflies in the tall grass. An electrical show above earth and on it and in it. We might have died but didn't really mind.

It has become apparent that sometimes the solstice allows for fireflies to poke through the atmosphere, floating up past the tree line that has darkened into the night sky. Orchard and Milky Way become indistinguishable and the fireflies become stars. Perhaps, too, the stars become insects in return, and prod around on earth for awhile.
